Frequently Asked Questions

How would you describe your style?

A word that has frequently been used by others to describe my work is “natural”, which to me is a great compliment!  I would say my style is a bit of photojournalism with a pinch of candid.  I like to observe through my camera and at times will give some direction and styling when required, (more typically during the bridal party formal session part of the day).  If you look through images on the website and social media (Facebook/Instagram) this should give you a fair indication if you think my style will suit you and your wedding.

What does your coverage include?

Coverage is up to a maximum of 9 hours, this means we will be with you before the ceremony as you are getting ready, (generally from around 11/12pm) and stay until the first dance is complete.  Also included - any meetings with you both, we can Skype if you are located out of town or overseas, a venue visit and possibly attending the ceremony rehearsal - if required.

Why have a second photographer?

I have this service as I feel that two photographers can give you overall the absolute "best coverage" of your day. I can only be in one place at one time and as multiple things happen simultaneously at weddings (and they're all worth capturing), a second photographer can give a different viewpoint and angle to a scene.  It also allows me to be with the bride getting ready, while my second shooter can be with the groom before the ceremony if locations are some distance apart.

Do you take pencil bookings?

Whilst I am happy to pencil in your date if you have a few more things to organise and confirm that your date is final, please note that all bookings are only confirmed once contracts are signed and retainer payment made, they are taken as a first in first serve basis.

*Retainer payment is Non-Refundable.

What happens if you fall ill?

I do everything to keep my date with you and it would take a major sickness or emergency for me not to attend in some way, luckily this has never been the case (touch wood).  However this is where having a second photographer can also be helpful!  They will be there to photograph your day and also as a member of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photographers (NZIPP), I can call on a pool of photographers in case of sickness or emergency.

When will we see our photos?

I do like to share a sneak peek of your wedding within a few days on social media and the remaining selection of images will be with you within 6 - 8 weeks from your wedding date.

How many photos do we get?

I do not have a “set number” of images as I give you as many as I can, it really depends on your day, the size of your bridal party, however as a guide; 3 Hour Coverage - min. 150, 6 Hour Coverage - min. 300, 9 Hour Coverage - min. 550. However you normally end up with more!

Do we have to provide a meal for you?

Due to the nature of the job, I do work on the run so to speak and it can be a long day, so it is appreciated if a meal is provided for me at the reception.  Please speak to your reception venue as they usually do provide a free or discounted option for vendors.

How long should we allow for our photos on the day?

I discuss this all with you when we have a meeting regarding your wedding and all the details including timings, family photo list etc.  We confirm the final timeline a week or two out from the wedding date.  As a guide, I like to allow an hour (to an hour and a half - if timeline allows) alone with you and the bridal party so you can all relax and enjoy having your photograph taken without any distractions.
